Micaela Jacinto rocks. She’s a second generation farmer, inheriting the family farm from her father back in 2000. At the time she worked the field together with her husband, but in the wake of Guatemala’s economic crisis he emigrated to the US and she took on the full breadth of farming on her own. She isn’t shy about the difficulties there are navigating the more laborious parts of farming on her own, but she takes a great deal of pride in instilling love and pride for the countryside in her children. We in turn take a great deal of pride in being able to share Micaela’s coffee with all of you.

I was curious about this one because of the family story behind it, and I'm glad I took the chance. The bag itself feels like it was cared for, and the coffee brews up incredibly clean with a sweetness that lingers just right.

The tasting notes in this bag really shine after a few days off-roast, and knowing it’s from a woman-run family farm makes the morning cup feel even better. I’ve already ordered another batch for the office.

The brew is incredibly smooth with a clean, delicate finish that makes it dangerously easy to drink a second cup before noon. I’m glad I picked this up knowing it comes from Micaela’s own family farm, and you can really taste the care in the beans.
